The Amsterdam Book Tag

amsterdam-book-tag-

A few months back I was tagged by the lovely Icebreaker694 to do this tag and today it’s finally here! Thank you so much for thinking of me ❤ And I’m sorry it’s so late T_T

Please go check out her awesome blog! It’s full of great bookish, manga and anime content 🙂

This tag was created by Michelle @ The Writing Hufflepuff. She has the cutest graphics, people!

WHY DO WE HAVE SO MANY CHEESE STORES IN ONE STREET? — A CHEESY READ

aikawa-saki

I think I’ll have to go with manga for this one… Anything by Aikawa Saki is super cheesy but oh so cute ❤

CANAL PARADE — A BOOK THAT CELEBRATES THE LGBT-COMMUNITY

geekerella

I loved how there was so much diversity in this one, including LGBT characters!

ANNE FRANK HOUSE — A BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY

kiss-of-redemption

That scene… Argh, it still breaks my heart whenever I think about it 😥

MUSEUM SQUARE — AN ARTSY BOOK

daughter-of-smoke-and-bone

There are so many art forms represented in this one. A true gem of a book! ❤

PIGEONS, PIGEONS EVERYWHERE — AN ANNOYING CHARACTER

Shiori from the Paper Gods series, even though she got better.

RED WHITE BLUE — RECREATE THE DUTCH FLAG USING BOOKS

So I cheated, ok? But it looks so pretty!

I Tag:

As always, no pressure to do this tag at all 😉

Thank you so much for reading and until next time!

  1. Ooooh this seems like a pretty cool tag! 😀 I loved the diversity in Geekerella, too! It was pretty cheesy but oh so cute, and I love how the author managed to include LGBTQIA+ characters in there. It felt like a pretty well-rounded cast of characters to me. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is such a beautifully detailed book! Artsy is definitely a way to describe it 😀 I have yet to read A Kiss of Deception but it’s on my TBR and love the Game of Thrones arrangement. I have yet to read those, too LOL Great tag, Sophie! And thanks for tagging me ˆ_ˆ

    1. Indeed, it was one of my favorite things about it! And also how likeable all the characters were ☺️
I totally recommend The Kiss of Deception! I haven’t read Game of Thrones yet, just watched the show and fell in love with it hahaha
Thank you so much, Azia! ❤️ And no problem! 😊

I still need to watch Game of Thrones. I’m only on season 2 I think! Gotta get going before the last season comes out! 😀

  2. Great answers for this tag Sophie, I really loved reading them. 🙂
Daughter of Smoke and Bone is a perfect choice for the Museum Square question, it’s definitely a gem of a book in my opinion as well. Also I have Geekerella on my to-read list, really hoping to start it soon because I’ve been hearing non-stop amazing things about it.
I love your picks for your book flag, it really does look gorgeous. 😀

Aww thanks! I was super lazy and chose my ASOIAF set but it really was the prettiest choice hahah

Thank you so much for the tag- I’ve actually done this one not so long ago, so probably won’t do it again, but I always appreciate being tagged 😀

Yeah I understand but a part of me really strives to be consistent and missing a post day bothers me to no end 😛 Of course, sometimes it’s inevitable but I try to avoid it best I can.
I’m glad you liked it! I thought they were the perfect books for it hahaha
Thank you so much for reading ^^

  6. I have read most manga by Aikawa Saki and I have to agree with you that they are quiet cheesy, but they are also very cute and fun to read! 🙂 I seriously want to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone! The more I hear about it the better it sounds. Great post! 🙂

    1. Hahaha yeah, they’re definitely a guilty pleasure of mine ^^
I highly recommend it, especially if you’re into art! Be it music, dancing, sketching… It’s really one of the biggest odes to art I’ve read in a while and it’s super interesting, with a very imaginative world and fast-paced plot.
Thank you so much, Anna! ❤

  7. This is such an interesting tag. Daughter of smoke and Bone is the one true best decision for an artsy book (and no I don’t say that just because I absolutely love it…ok I miiiight be a bit biased but can you blame me). Also I love that you added manga in your answers.

    1. Glad you liked it! 🙂 Hahaha hey, I’m biased too! But it is a great choice for an artsy book 😛
I love manga so I always find little ways to include it in my tags ^^ Do you have any favorites? Or a favorite genre?
Also, thank you so much for reading and commenting! ❤

      1. Well…I actually haven’t read that much? I want to start Assassination Classroom because I’ve heard only great things about it so far. I’ll see how that one goes.

  8. Great post! I’ve been to Amsterdam and absolutely love it there! There’s something peaceful and calming with its canals.

I think I’m going to add The Kiss of Deception to my list. It looks really good…sad…but good.

    1. Oh that’s so cool! I haven’t been there myself yet but I plan to one day 🙂 It looks absolutely stunning indeed!
I definitely recommend KoD 🙂 Yes, it can be heartbreaking and a tough read at times but those moments are few. Most of the time it just focus on the plot and the development of the characters. But, of course, any good fantasy will feature political intrigue and the like, so there are casualties and a bit of a tearfest here and there.
      Thank you for reading! ❤

      1. It really was a lovely place and the Anne Frank House is a must! When you do go, you should check out my other site (the traveling one). I have a post dedicated to Amsterdam . 🙂

Sounds good to me! I’ll go add it to my Goodreads list now. 🙂

  9. Ouuuh Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I didn’t know about the whole “art forms”! That author has started to really intrigue me since her latest release. Have you picked up Strange the Dreamer yet? 😛

    1. No, not yet but I want to! It sounds amazing and everyone is saying how perfect it is and how you should go in completely clueless hahaha So that’s what I’ve been trying to do, avoid all spoilers 😛
I’ll be posting my review for DoSaB tomorrow 🙂 I have some mixed feelings about it, actually, but overall a really awesome read. Laini Taylor is amazingly talented OMG *_*

      1. It’s good! I am actually going through an audio version of it, but it’s really about the process and also a bit about the art world. It’s about an outcast artist who is currently working in reproductions, who’s approached to forge something from the Gardner Museum Heist. So it’s very immersed in different aspects of the art world. Definitely worth a read!
