Theme Thursday

Theme Thursday: Witches

Hi everyone and Happy Thursday! I’m sure you all know what that means…

It’s Theme Thursday time!

💟 Bloggers Shoutout 💟

Theme Thursday is a new monthly feature created by Sophie @ Blame Chocolate where bloggers can share recs and newly found books featuring that month’s theme.

  • There will be a different theme (genre, trope, etc) every month. Check the calendar here.
  • Those participating have to list titles that feature that theme in some way (doesn’t have to be the main theme of the book).
  • You can choose one of the four (or five) Thursdays of every month to post.
  • You can use the three main categories: Books I’ve Read/I’m Reading, Books I Want to Read, and Other Books That Fit The Theme but this isn’t mandatory.
  • Please use this boxed text (or similar) in your post, which doubles as a pingback.
  • Additional info is available on the Theme Thursday page.

This month’s theme is: Witches!

The perfect theme for Halloween (though there were tons more I could have gone for, such as “Ghosts” – big shoutout to Caro for suggesting that one!)

I just went with this one because I honestly know a lot more books that feature witches than ones that feature ghosts and I wanted more recs to pick up in October 😅 I also feel like most witchy books are super feminist and badass

I’m so sorry, Caro! (Will use “Ghosts” next Halloween, for sure 😉 )

That’s it! If you’d like even more recs (because I couldn’t possibly fit all of them in here), you can head over to my Goodreads list

Make sure to pingback so I can check out your recs. And if I missed your TT post, feel free to send me an email or comment below with your link and I’ll check it out 🙂

  1. This is fun!! I really can’t recommend Clean Sweep enough – or honestly, anything by Ilona Andrews. The writing duo is one of my auto-buy authors and is probably in the top three overall for authors 🙈🙈 I adore all their books! Iron and Magic is another great one for this list by them 🙂

  2. Thank you so much for the shout out! You’re too kind! ❤ I think you know some of my favs from my post but if we count 'not exactly witches but close‘ I’m currently rereading The Brilliant Death by Amy Rose Capetta and I love it so much!! It’s about stregas who each have their specific magical ability.

  4. Great choices Sophie! I’ve been meaning to read The Raven Boys for so long now… one day I finally will. And I loved Stardust! I must admit I gave up on A Discovery of Witches, but I know many other people love it so I guess it’s just not for me.
Btw I adore that Secret History of Witches book cover. In fact so many of the ones you’ve included look amazing… maybe witches inspire good cover art 🙂

  6. I love the idea of reading witchy books at this time of year. I have a list of them to post sometime and a few of these are on it too. I’m probably reading Hex Life next and hopefully I’ll get to Serpent & Dove and Season Of The Witch soon. Have you watched the new show of Sabrina? I also really want to read A Discovery Of Witches soon and am hoping to get on with Witches Of East End pretty soon too (I’ve just got myself secondhand copies of two of the books so in theory I’ll get to them fairly soon, although I am buried in library books right now so I’m reading those first.) Anyway I seriously need to get reading some of these witch based books as I always love shows that feature them.

  10. You HAVE to read Circe! It’s very slow-paced, especially when compared to asoa BUT it’s so, so good, it’s worth it ❤

  11. Sometimes I forget that the Raven Boys includes witches in it xD I guess it does, in its own way 😛 I also just finished Serpent and Dove! I see you have a review for it so I will go read that and save my opinions for that comment. Circe is a brilliant book and I hope you will love it whenever you get around to reading it x

  12. This is a great selection of books! I haven’t read much of them, though. I do remember reading the Hex Hall books and they were a little cringey, still good.
I so need to read Good Omens! And finish The Raven Cycle!!
