Hiya guys! Hope you’re all having a terrific Sunday 🙂
I’m really sorry for not having been as active on the blogosphere lately 😫 I’ve just been devoting a lot of time to reading and not much is left at the end of the day to hop around… But I will do it as soon as I can!
As promised, I’m here today to update you on my N.E.W.T.s progress – which I’m pleased to tell you, is going very well!
I’ve managed to read 14 out of 36 books this past two weeks (well, one week and a half, really) so yay! 😀 (click the image for full size)

What went right…
You might be shocked to see so many great ratings… And believe me, I was too! I never thought I’d enjoy these books so much.
(And yes, those are chocolate frogs because I’m extra like that 😇 I wish I’d come up with them for the O.W.L.s though 🤔)
The fact that I’ve had such a positive reading experience so far has kept me motivated and right on track, which is so so great ❤
(I just hope it stays that way and I don't end up finishing off with terrible books 😂 )
What went wrong…
I kind of skipped some levels and didn’t quite follow the reading pattern: you know, A > E > O. Which is pretty much against the rules 😅 (and makes no sense 😅) BUT I’m a mood reader and that’s what happens.
Also, I’m a Gryffindor and we do s*** just because, apparently (I love this excuse, it’s so versatile!)
Now, I’ve made a pact with myself and if for some reason I don’t get to finish the lower levels, then whatever books I’ve read ahead don’t count. Which is only fair, I think.
Books I’m currently reading…
I’ve started Magic Dreams sometime last week but for some reason have had some trouble being invested in it, so I just pick it up on occasion.
It’s quite strange, though, because I loved every book in the series up until this one and had trouble putting them all down! Maybe because it’s a different character’s POV? I don’t know. I like Dali but she’s just not Kate…
I picked up Poisoned Apples: Poems for You, My Pretty today, which I’ll probably have finished by the time this post goes up.
For someone who usually doesn’t care much for poetry, I’m actually finding it quite nice. I mean, feminist fairy tales retold in a contemporary fashion? Sounds pretty cool to me!
Conclusion
I’ve been having a blast so far and have for some reason found the N.E.W.T.s much easier than the O.W.L.s, even though there are more books to read now? Weird.
I think it’s just because they’re all shorter stories and thus kinder to my attention span. Which in turn contributes to my overall happiness levels and keeps me motivated.
However, I haven’t been to my Goodreads group all that much and for that I’m really sorry 😭😭😭 I’ll try and be a better N.E.W.T.s mate from now on, I promise!
On that note, please check out the rest of my N.E.W.T.s squad below 😊

Anyway, that is all for now! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and stick with me for the rest of this readathon 🙂
OOH!!! I am so jealous about all this Harry Potter stuff you are doing, I just love everything you have done here and it makes my heart happy!! Looks like some great books you got read for this RAT. I do love it when you have those great reading weeks.

Love this. So glad you’re having as much fun as I am with this. I’ve managed 13/30 books so far 😁 looking forward to the rest of the month, wondering what I’m gonna do with myself when it’s over 😭 however, G is announcing another Extra Credit Readathon this week I think so that’s exciting 😁
Thanks for arranging to do this later in the year babe. I’m having a blast with you girls ❤️

Thank you, Steph, and so glad to hear you are as well! I know I’ve been a wretched readathon pal lately but I’ll try and be more active 🙂
That’s great!! Hahaha twinsies 😛 Although you’ve read much longer books than I have so you get a lot more credit 😅
Same here! It’s been such a big part of my day to just read read read until I reach my goal… And the sense of companionship I get from seeing you guys at it as well 😊
No worries at all! You guys have given me all the encouragement I needed to do it too ❤️ I’ll see about that extra credit! Though I’m not sure about doing it myself, I look forward to reading about your experience 😁

Jaw drops to floor: You have read 14 books in two weeks?! Wow…that’s the amount of books that I can read in a whole year if I’m lucky lol . Seriously though, this is truly amazing, and I’m glad that you are having so much fun with reading!
Don’t worry about bloghopping: the most important thing is that you are enjoying this, and that is pretty much what this is all about. Good luck with the rest of the challenge! 😊😊

Hahaha yes! I’m shocked myself 😂 But they were all pretty short so I don’t think it’d be hard for anyone to read that many as well 😉
I know but I want to check out what everyone’s been up to too! It’s been hard to do though… I’ll try and get some done on the weekend at least 😊
Thank you so much!! ❤️ Let me know if you’ve read or are planning to read anything on my list so we can chat about it 😄

Wow! You’re seriously doing amazing at this! Great job! 😀
I know you are only reading short books, but to read 14 books in such a short period of time is an amazing accomplishment. I’m also glad to see that you are enjoying what you are reading. 🙂 Good luck with the rest of the readathon! ❤

Oh thank you Anna! ❤️ That’s so sweet of you, and yeah it’s nice to feel like I’ve been able to accomplish my goal for these first weeks at least. Let’s hope it stays that way 😊
Thank you very much! ❤️

Wow you have got through so many books over the past two weeks Sophie! 🙂 I’m amazed because comparatively my reading progress these past two weeks has been non-existent (but I am taking part in NaNo this month so I’ve been focusing on my writing). Also it’s great they’ve all gotten such good ratings too. I can imagine there’s nothing worse than taking part in a readathon, trying to read as many books as you can, and being stuck with books you don’t enjoy.
I’d have skipped grades too, I’m a mood reader so I wouldn’t have been able to go in order either. In fact chances are if I’d been doing this readathon I wouldn’t have even stuck to the books I would have set before it started! 😀
Good luck for the rest of the readathon though, you’ve made great process so far so I’m sure the rest of November will be more of the same. 😀 ❤️

Yeah I mean you are facing a whole challenge of your own! There’s only so much one can do, and you should definitely focus in one thing at a time 🙂 I hope it’s going well! Though I have no doubts you will accomplish your goal in the end ❤️
I’ve been very lucky so far, yes! And I basically forgot I had to follow the levels, I just went for it 😂😂😂
Thank you so much, Beth! ❤️ I surely hope so, and it hasn’t been just a lucky streak… But we’ll see 😉

Well I’ve already had to cut a few things back this month already, including my writing, so I’m just getting whatever I can done and being happy with that. 🙂
Thanks, and there’s nothing wrong with that. You’re reading at the end of the day, and you’re probably well on track to get all the books on your NEWT TBR list finished.
That’s all right, and I’m sure this wasn’t just a lucky streak. 🙂 ❤️

Thank you, hon, and to you as well ❤️

14 books in two weeks!? That’s pretty impressive considering my personal reading challenge to myself was to read 30 books this year 😛 I’ve never actually tried an official reading challenge just because of all the rules. I don’t have the patience for rules 😛
I feel a hypocrite for saying it because when I wasn’t blogging much due to uni, I was always apologising for my lack of activity…but don’t worry about it. No one’s going anywhere so we’ll still be here when you come back to the blogosphere! ❤ Happy reading! ❤

Hahaha well it was impressive for me too, as my reading goal is double that 😂 But again, they’re all short books so it’s not overly hard.
Oh believe me, I end up throwing all the rules out of the window in the process (and regretting nothing!)
Yeah I know, I tell other bloggers the same thing and then do it myself 😂 We’re both hypocrites, or we’re just harder on ourselves than others. Either way, I allow us to be forgiven!!
Thank you so much, Jazz, and to you as well ❤️❤️

Great they’ve all been such good books so far, there’s nothing like a lacklustre book to slow you down/de-motivate you. I hope the next ones are good too!

Yeah so far they’ve been quite alright and even those who weren’t, were so short it didn’t much matter.
But I’m sure glad I’ve been able to keep motivated, otherwise I would have panicked by now 😂
Thank you so much, Nicola ❤️ What are you reading right now, if you don’t mind my asking?

Yes true at least when they’re short, a lacklustre one is not as hard to get through. Good you don’t have to panic 🙂 I’m listening to the audiobook of Children of Blood and Bone right now and really enjoying it! Also I’m still crawling my way though a reread of The Amber Spyglass (Not because it’s a bad book, but because I don’t get much time for physical book reading and having read it before does remove a little of the suspense).

Ooohh I love that series SO much! I remember it being gigantic (I had the 3-in-1 edition, of all things) and a real adventure to go through, but so worth it in the end 🙂
I can understand that, yeah. That’s why I rarely re-read books, they just don’t appeal to me as much anymore…

Fourteen books in a week and a half is amazing. I would love to do that! Someday. And I’m glad so many of them were good ones. Great challenge and keep going. Enjoy!

Thank you, Diana! Well, it’s not something I normally do either nor do I have the time to do it… But since they’re all so short it’s much more manageable 🙂
Thanks again! ❤

Omg you’re doing amazing! 💗 I’m glad you’re enjoying so many books too 😄 (I love the chocolate frogs btw!) I didn’t exactly stick to the different levels when I did the NEWT’s, sometimes it just doesn’t work out 😄

Thank you so much, Caro! ❤
Yeah I just fail so badly at following the levels… It's like, that book right at the bottom looks so much more inviting… I must read it! 😂😂

Oh my god HOW are you reading that much?! You impressive human.
I looove Alice in Wonderland. I studied it for my 19th century lit class when I was still at uni and it was probably the most fun I have ever had studying a book. Well, apart from the next module I did which was literally reading Jane Austen. Sigh. I miss university!

Hahaha I was lucky! And life got so dull at times I could do nothing else but pick up a book to distract myself 😂
I really liked Alice in Wonderland! It felt like I was on acid (or at least like I imagine someone would feel like on acid 😂😂😂). But yeah, it was so much fun! I laughed out loud quite a lot, which doesn’t happen often with books.
It’s too bad we can’t get a course on just reading books, right?? I’d enrol right now *_* ❤
