The Sims Tag

Happy Tuesday everyone! How are you all doing? What are you guys reading? Plotting? Eating? Drop me your comments below, I’d love to chat!

So in case you didn’t know, I actually love The Sims (and a couple other games, but The Sims is part of my childhood!) Thus, I was really happy when Reads and Reels tagged me to do this as it brought back some fond memories 🙂 Thank you so much! ❤ Please do check out her blog, it’s so varied and full of interesting content I promise you you’ll never be bored 😀

This tag was originally created by a Youtuber called Hailey on Hailey in Bookland.

The Original Sims: The Best Author Debut

the-hating-game

This was such an amazing surprise! I wasn’t expecting to love this brilliant book but I did and it was so hard when I finished it and realised the author had not written anything else 😥 (Although she has a second one coming out at the end this year and I am so down for it!!)

The Grim Reaper: The Saddest Character Death

before-i-fall

I can’t actually think of any character deaths that have shaken me in the past? Is there something wrong with my cold, unfeeling heart? Probably. This one was a bit of a ‘oomph’ though.

Sims Getting Stuck: A Character that Got in the Way

i-love-yoo

I’m going to choose a webtoon for this because its “villain” is the one that has been annoying me the most lately. Ugh.

Simlish: A Book with Amazing Writing

daughter-of-smoke-and-bone

Let’s not act surprised here!

Expansion Packs: A Series Where the Books just Keep Getting Better

lunarchronicles

Undoubtedly so.

Cheats: A Book that’s Completely Unrealistic

broken-roots

I mostly read fantasy so I’m unfamiliar with the term. Still, I managed to remember this one.

Needs Fulfillment: A Character who makes all the wrong decisions

the-hundredth-queen

ALL these characters were just so frustrating.

Error Code 12: A Series that Starts Off Great but Goes Downhill from There

Hunger_games_Books_t600

I actually have so many of these. I always seem to have the worst luck with series!

Sims Vortex: A Book or Series that completely Engrossed You

crown

I love this book SO MUCH 😥

  1. Ack. So many interesting books here. What a great tag, Sophie. I have to pick up The Daughter of Smoke and Bone and the whole Sarah Maas series. I’ll skip The Hundredth Queen – I can’t stand characters who make endless frustrating choices. I want to throttle them! I guess I’m going to wander over to Amazon… again! Ha ha.

    1. Thank you, Diana 🙂
I think you’ll be very pleased with DoSaB (and any Laini Taylor book, really). I have mixed feelings when it comes to Sarah J. Maas but there are some of hers that I really love. I’ve only tried one of her YA series though, I need to read her other one, which is NA.
I don’t mind it so long as there’s some character development and it’s realistic. But constantly dumb characters make me want to pull my hair out!
Hahaha happy shopping! I barely close my Amazon app nowadays 😛

      1. Interesting comment on Maas. I see so many glowing reviews of her work, I have to try one. I like following book reviewers of fantasy books – almost never disappointed! Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you so much! Hahaha me too *_* I spent way too much time on it, for sure… And while doing this tag I actually became so nostalgic I had to go play it for a bit 😛
Did you know a new one is coming out? It looks so good!!

  2. I have only read Cinder so far in the Lunar series, but I really enjoyed it and I keep meaning to continue the series. I have been slowly working on all the series I have started haha.

  3. Oh my goodness, lol! I used to live to play Sims, Haha! Your tag made me want to download the game to my laptop. I keep thinking I should read Cinder, but then I wonder if I’ll like it! I should just try it! 😊 Great tag!

    1. Hahaha really? I kind of did too xD But nowadays I either finish the house and don’t feel like playing anymore or I just end up making everyone’s lives terrible xD
There’s a new one coming out (Sims 5) that looks absolutely stunning! I need it like right now :O
I think you will but keep in mind that it is the weakest in the series (in most people’s opinions, and my own). I feel it really steps up after that and my fave is actually the second book, Scarlet. Regardless, I think it’s a wonderful series and you should most definitely read it ❤
      Thanks so much, Stephanie! 🙂

      1. Haha, yes, especially Sims 3! I had every single expansion pack, lol. I loved the vampires 😂 I haven’t played in years. Sims 4 was so boring that I stopped although I never tried any of the expansion packs for it, so it might have gotten better. I loved decorating the houses. I was not the greatest builder, but I’d kick the families out of the biggest houses and redecorate them, lol. In Sims 3, my characters were always having babies…idk. I freaked the 1st time I killed someone, lol. Then I was like..hmmm…ok…ghosts, 🤔😂 I’ll have to check out Sims 5. I didn’t know they were coming out with it. I’ll probably buy it.

Thanks, I’ll definitely have to read them. I’ve heard they were good but avoided them because they aren’t my typical read, but I’m branching out this year! You’re welcome! ❤😊

        1. Oh I have all the expansion packs for the Sims 4 and I can tell you it makes a huuuge difference. I think new ones came out recently but I haven’t checked them out yet.
Hahaha you evil! xD I actually loved killing off families so I could build haunted houses (yeah, I’m twisted…) And would then move a cool family into them and play with the ghosts and stuff. It was so cool! xD
The Sims 5 apparently has even more customisation, if that’s even possible. I’m quite curious about it.
Sure thing! I hope you enjoy them once you get to them ^^ ❤

          1. Ah oh, lol! Now you have me curious about the Sims 4 expansion packs, hahaha!! I might have to buy one and try it out! I just got so bored with it since you couldn’t do the same things with the characters that you could in Sims 3 and there were no supernatural beings, lol. Whoa, I never thought about making a haunted house! I had a 3 generation family living in a house with the grandparents ghosts in it, but that was about it. They didn’t interact too much, but maybe I didn’t know what I was doing, lol. Sims is so addictive though. I would start playing and play all day, lol.

Thanks! I’ll let you know! 🙂

  4. It’s been a while since I’ve read Before I Fall, but it was a sad death. Also, I’ve been meaning to read The Lunar Chronicles, so this was a great reminder that I do need to get to the series at some point! I’m glad that you found this series gets better as it goes along! A Throne of Glass is another series that I have neglected to read yet, but it’s great to hear that the series engrossed you. So much to read, so little time! 😛

    1. Not that I wasn’t expecting it, but I was always hoping for a happy ending you know? So there was always that spark of home keeping me from accepting it and then BAM. I was a bit shaken.
Oh, definitely do! It’s such a lovely series ❤
I actually loved book one and two but then it kind of went a bit downhill for me… As most series do xD I still need to read the last two in the series, but I'm not sure excited about them at this point :/
      I know, right?? *cries*

I can’t wait to do this one asap ❣….
The lunar Chronicles is one of the best books I have read ever …..

  6. Thanks for the tag Sophie! I don’t think I have ever played The Sims before. Like I knew about it, but I was never the one to play XD You had some great answers! OF COURSE The Lunar Chronicles is the best answer for that prompt! And well you know that my feelings on Crown of Midnight mirror yours! 🙂

    1. Sure thing ^^ Oh no, you absolutely need to! It’s just so awesome and addictive… Ok, you know what, maybe you shouldn’t try it in case you end up wasting all your time in it xD After all, there are books to read, and blog posts to write, and life happening… You know *shrugs*
TLC is amazing!! I will always reference it as one of the best developed series.
And absolutely, we’re blood sisters and we will not back down!! ❤ Which reminds me I need to read EoS and ToD ^^' *sigh*

  7. My sister is a huge fan of this game, so I am going to have to share this with her! I am ashamed to say that I have all of the Lunar Chronicle books on my shelf and I haven’t finished the series yet. I am so happy that it gets better. I will have to get to it soon. 🙂

    1. Aww that’s so cool! I hope she likes it 🙂
You absolutely must, they’re really great and like I mentioned, each other gets better and better (in my opinion)! My fave is Scarlet but that’s because I really loved the storyline/characters/romance, not because it was superior content-wise. It’s just a preference of mine ^^

  8. I agree with so many of your choices – especially Daughter of Smoke and bone, Laini Taylor is such an amazing writer 🙂 I loved Crown of Midnight and the Lunar Chronicles too. It’s such a shame about Hunger Games – I still adore the first book, but I try to forget about the other two, especially the last one. I have also unfortunately read quite a few series that go downhill – but there are also several that improved with each book (eg I was worried the Red Rising sequels would disappoint, maybe because the first book had a similar premise to the Hunger Games, but in my opinion they just got better and better), so I guess you win some and you lose some!

  9. Oh great picks for this tag Sophie! Daughter of Smoke and Bone is definitely, 100% a series with incredible writing. In fact I think for me the writing and Laini Taylor’s style is what makes her a favourite author of mine. Yes The Lunar Chronicles is a series that really does get better and better, part of me hopes Wires and Nerve volume 2 isn’t the last we’re going to get from that world (I suppose I can always re-read from the beginning though right?)
Also I love the Throne of Glass series, so excited for the last book to be released!
Great post, and again great picks for this tag! 😀 ❤

    1. Thank you, Beth! Same here… Laini is hands down the best YA writer I’ve come across thus far and it’ll take a very skilled one to take her place (except for Emily Brontë, everyone else has failed at this task).
I actually haven’t read Wires and Nerve! I feel like I’m missing out. However, Iko was never a fave of mine so I’m not sure if I’d like it… Hmm. But yeah, re-reads save fangirl hearts! xD
I have a love/hate relationship with the ToG series…. I need to read the last two books and see what I make of it at this point. I have almost forgotten everything! But I don’t want to re-read the previous books either xD (it’s a tough world for a lazy reader…)
Thank you so much! ❤ ❤

      1. That’s all right. 🙂 I haven’t read anything by Emily Brontë so Laini Taylor is the ultimate writer for me. Oh that’s a shame about Iko, she was a favourite of mine so I loved Wires and Nerve.
I need to read Tower of Dawn still, but so far I’ve loved the majority of the series so I can’t wait for the last book for sure.
        That’s all right. 🙂 ❤

  10. Ooh I love some of those books so much! *sneakily looks up The Sims ’cause I’ve never played it* 😲 Thanks so much for the tag! 😆

And how’s it going?? Hope you had a nice week 😝

  11. I used to play the Sims so much when I was younger! Like, for hours and hours and hours. Sometimes I miss it but then I have too much stuff to do lately to really go back to it 😦 Also, I have to totally agree. The Lunar Chronicles does only get better and better and better! I semi-agree with The Hunger Games. I loved book 2 the most but the first was okay and the last one was frankly, terrible in my opinion xD

    1. Aw yeah, it’s so time consuming, especially in the beginning when you have to create everything (well you don’t, really, but what’s the fun in that? hahaha)
Ah, that’s interesting! I really didn’t care much for book two because it felt so repetitive… I did like the fact that Katniss was making new friends and we got to know all these cool new characters but yeah, felt a bit meh in the end. Book three was TERRIBLE and seriously ruined the trilogy for me!
