Happy Monday, everyone! 😀
I was tagged by my lovely friends Icebreaker694 and Mandy @ Book Princess Reviews to do this furry tag. I absolutely love cats so it was just meant to be
By the way, Mandy has just started a weekly segment called The Princesses Read where, each week, she chooses one Princess and some books she thinks that Princess would enjoy reading. If that is not the cutest thing you have ever seen, then I don’t know what is!
Rules
- If you do this tag please credit me at Kate@ meltingpotsandothercalamities
- Answer the questions
- And tag as many people as you like!
PURR- AS CATS DO THIS WHEN THEY’RE HAPPY OR RELAXED, WHAT IS THE BOOK THAT MAKES YOU HAPPIEST OR RELAXED?
Any shoujo romance will usually do the trick!
SLEEP- WHAT IS A BOOK THAT PUT YOU TO SLEEP OR WAS JUST BORING?
Enchiridion by Epictetus is one of the most boring books I have ever read… It’s so short yet I just can’t finish it!
TWITCH WHILE DREAMING- HAVE YOU EVER DREAMT OF A BOOK YOU READ?
I sometimes dream about the books I’m reading… The last one was Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller.
SEEMS TO PLAY NICE…UNTIL THE CLAWS ARE OUT- WHICH BOOK HAD THE BIGGEST PLOT TWIST(S)?
Man, I don’t know… I guess I’ll have to go with the Grisha short stories!
CUDDLES- WHICH BOOK CHARACTER WOULD YOU GIVE A HUG TO?
Arin from The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski. He’s adorable and breaks my heart to see him sad!
CATNIP- WHAT’S A BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAVE WARM AND FUZZY FEELS?
CAT BREEDS- WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE BOOKS?
Short answer is Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. Long answer is… Well, too long to include here!
GETTING THE CAT- HOW DID YOU FIND YOUR FAVORITE BOOK(S).
Some were recommended to me, others were impulse buys, others I came across from searching online.
THE VET’S OFFICE- YOUR LEAST FAVORITE BOOK:
I’ll go with 1984 by George Orwell. It’s just not for me.
BEING IN PLACES THEY SHOULDN’T- LEAST FAVORITE CLICHÉ:
Instalove is probably the most annoying cliché of all.
FINAL QUESTION: THE GOOD OLD CARDBOARD BOX- MOST UNDERRATED BOOK SERIES.
The Sevenwaters series by Juliet Marillier. It’s just so phenomenal and not nearly enough people know about it!

Ahhh what a lovely tag! I loooove cats, I wish I had one of my own! 😀
I can’t believe I haven’t read the Grisha short stories yet! Thanks for reminding me 😉
and I don’t think I’ve ever dreamt about a book, at least I can’t remember!

Me too!! That’s why this was such a wonderful tag to do ❤
Oh, go read them! Go, go, go! XD You'll love them!
If I get super into the story, I will sometimes dream about it. Which is honestly super cool 🙂

I will, I will! 😀 And you’re right! It’s like you’re bringing book characters to life IN YOUR DREAMS and it’s even cooler if you’re IN the dream with them!!! 😍

Yup, it’s an awesome experience!! ^^
Maybe if you spend a lot of time thinking about that story, your subconscious will pick it up at night?
I don’t know how it works… I just know it happens when I’m really obsessed with it hahaha
So start obsessing, Jackie! XD

I thought I’ve already been obsessing too much when it comes to certain books and characters but apparently not enough! I’m on it!!!! 💪🏼😂

I’ve only heard good things about the Daughter of the seven waters – series and really wants to read it! It’s just that I have such a long TBR :S But hopefully will do sometime soon 😄 Great tag!

You need to, ASAP! They’re wonderful ❤
I hope you get to read it soon! I actually didn't enjoy Daughter of the Forest as much as the sequels… But everyone else seems to find it the best out of them all, so who knows? Depends on your taste, I guess.
Thank you so much! ^_^

This tag sounds cute! I’m mostly a dog lover but I also like cats. Shoujo Romance makes me purr too! XD

I certainly hope not! Look at all those people I tagged XD
And you need to. Like, right now. I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do, if not more!

Yay! I know, I had a flash of inspiration from my cats lol.
I know! I’m so excited to see all these new posts of my tag. I was scared it would die because I didn’t have a ton of followers when I first created it.
I’m swamped with homework right now, but over break, I definitely will!

I’m not sure if it’s a good or a bad thing to dream about the books you read. Like, on the one hand, super YAY that you’re inside the world if it’s a cool one. But I mean, what if you get transported into a scary world – like when Levana is going crazy? Books have some scary things. D: Are they usually good dreams at least? XD Wonderful post, Sophie, as usual, and you’re seriously so lovely for mentioning me up there. You’re the best. 😀

Well, that’s a possibility but my book dreams are usually pretty chill XD So, so far, so good! I hope it continues to be that way because I don’t want any scary stuff in my dreams hahaha
Thank you, Mandy! ❤ Oh, it was nothing. I really wished I could promote you and your wonderful posts even more and will do so whenever possible ^^ Plus, that segment is looking fierce!

LOL, oh thank goodness. XD I could imagine them going super wrong at some point. Hopefully they continue to be epic. And awh, thankies, you’re the best. ❤

Thanks for tagging us! I’m behind on tags, but I do appreciate it! I don’t dream about books… just past events. Like last night it was about my All State Men’s Choir festival (weird, huh?) and some of my new friends were there (even more weird!). And you don’t like 1984? I loved that book! It was super great!
LikeLiked by 1 person
No problem, Kester! We all are, I’m afraid hahaha Just do it when you get the time, no pressure whatsoever 😉
I get tons of different dreams, but book dreams are usually very pleasant! So I enjoy them ^^
I didn’t like 1984, unfortunately… I mean, I get the message behind it and realize it’s an important work of fiction. But I’m just not a fan of the genre, nor could I stand the total depressing tone of it. So I DNFed it. I’m glad you loved it, though! 🙂

Thanks! I wish I could have one. All mine are actual events in my life or events after I wake up I think happened! 😅 Oh okay… so is dystopian not your thing then? I love dystopian novels so it was great for me! I liked the world-building.
LikeLike
Those are fine, too! As long as they’re not nightmares 😉
Well, I do enjoy dystopias here and there but there has to be some sort of silver lining in them…
Harsh, ruthless stories with no happy endings in sight are just not for me! They make me way too depressed hahaha
LikeLiked by 1 person
I like to write cliffhanger endings but sometimes not to read them… And it depends. I love happy endings but sometimes I can use a sad one. 😉
LikeLiked by 1 person
I get it. I almost never like sad endings myself but I can understand the appeal. Sometimes you just feel like reading something different 😉

This is such a cute tag! And what happened in your dream? Were you the pirate in your dream? Or were you just a spectator? There are times that I’m just a spectator in my dreams. Haha! Great post! And thanks for tagging me! 😀
LikeLiked by 1 person
I don’t remember much… Just that I was interacting with the characters in some way. And I remember it being awesome! But that’s all hahaha
I’m rarely a spectator… Is that a thing for some people and not others, I wonder? Hmm.
Thank you so much, Jannin! ❤ And no problem, have fun with it ^^
LikeLiked by 1 person
Maybe it depends though. Because there are most times that I can control my dreams. So I mostly choose to be a spectator. But if my dream has a good plot, I’ll be the main character. Haha! 😂😂 Have you tried controlling your dreams?
LikeLike
Ah, that’s cool! I’m not sure… Maybe subconsciously? Sometimes I can tell I’m in a dream, and I can even force myself to wake up if I want to. But I never actually manipulated a dream, I don’t think.
LikeLiked by 1 person
They have a term for that. Lucid dreamer, I think? The ability to control your dream. 😄 That’s where I sometimes create the stories I wrote, in my dream. 😁
LikeLike
Hahaha that’s so awesome! They do say our best ideas will come up in dreams or while in the shower 😛
Really, I wish I had that ability… But at least I can wake myself up if I’m having a bad dream XD

Daughter of the Pirate King will get to be featured in a lot of my posts, I think 😛 I just loved that book!!

Oh my goodness! I never get fed up with being tagged. I always appreciate being thought of, even though I very rarely find the time to participate in them. One day I shall master my schedule, but right now, I’m kind of a hot mess. LOL. I loved that book too. It’s the perfect read for when you want a book that is just plain fun.

Ah that’s great to know! ^^ I’m the same… I’m so behind on tags, but it’s always nice to have them if I can fit them into my schedule. They’re always a lot of fun!

You sure read some serious books! Enchiridion by Epictetus – I have heard someone mentioned about liking or even obsessed with Epictetus because he gave Epictetus as a middle name to his son.. lol. Have you tried other Epictetus books? I agree with you on your answers with the Winner’s and Lunar Chronicles hehe.. I have yet to read the other books 🙂
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hahaha sometimes, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to enjoy this one as much as I usually do.
Epictetus as a (middle) name is really weird hahaha But hey, to each his own. There are way worse names out there XD
Glad to hear it, Jasmine! I hope you get to read the other books as well ^^ They’re pretty great.

YAY cats! 😀 This had nice clever prompts! I was surprised to see 1984 in the vet’s office, but it’s totally understandable if its not your cup of tea. Also was really surprised by those Bardugo short stories. I didn’t recognize the books based on their covers (I’ve never seen them). I just knew she had ebooks out there that never came out as paperbacks, but it’s pretty cool to hear they have note-worthy plot twists! Thanks for the tag, Sophie! 😉

Cats are love ❤
Yeah, I'm not a fan of that type of books, to be honest. Not an Orwell fan overall (I didn't enjoy Animal Farm either) so I'm not sure I'll ever pick up another one of his books. I understand why they're considered such amazing works but alas, they're just not for me!
I highly recommend Leigh Bardugo's short stories, they were honestly amazing!
And no problem at all, Lashaan ^^ I hope you guys have fun with it!
