The Emoji Book Tag

emoji0

Happy Monday, guys!

So Mandy @ Book Princess Reviews and Amy @ Bursting with Books nominated me a couple months back to do this very fun tag and I finally got to it!

Basically, you’re supposed to choose five emoji that you either like or use frequently, and match them with books.

Since I had two people tagging me, though, I decided to do ten emoji! The more the merrier, right?

Thank you so much Mandy and Amy ❤

rollingeyes

Rolling Eyes Emoji

boymeetsgirl

I loved the first book in the Boy series by Meg Cabot.

Boy Meets Girl, however, featured an incredibly ditzy/idiotic protagonist, and the story was just lazy and unoriginal.

flushed

Blushing Emoji

maid

Maid-Sama by Hiro Fujiwara.

I just feel like this is what Misaki looks like 90% of the time when Usui is around (and I have to admit, I do too…)

sunglasses

Cool Emoji

daughter.jpg

Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller.

Alosa is such a smug chick and super independent, and I just feel like highfiving her all the time.

steamfromnose

Super Angry Emoji

deathcure.jpg

The Death Cure by James Marsden. I don’t know how to express it in a coherent manner so I’ll leave it up to the emoji.

astonished

Astonished Emoji

bardugo

The Demon in the Wood, The Too-Clever Fox and The Witch of Duva by Leigh Bardugo.

Every one of these was so clever and masterful and had such incredible twists! I could never see them coming!

XD

Laughing Hard Emoji

deadpool

My last laugh out loud read was definitely Deadpool V Gambit: The “V” is for “Vs.” by Ben Acker, Ben Blacker and Danilo Beyruth.

It’s Deapool so what did I expect?

crying

Crying Hard Emoji

clay.jpg

Clay Tongue by Nicholas Conley. I never would have known about this little gem if the author hadn’t contacted me for a review.

It’s honestly so sweet and heartbreaking I couldn’t keep those tears in.

happiness

Smiling Eyes Emoji

yotsuba

Yotsuba&! by Kiyohiko Azuma. This manga just makes me so happy!

neutral

Emotionless Emoji

divergent

Divergent by Veronica Roth. I honestly could not bring myself to feel anything while reading this book.

I just couldn’t connect with it and mostly felt like I was watching the story unfolding from very far away.

hearts

Heart Eyes Emoji

crown

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas. I love this book so much, and think it’s the best one in the series ❤

I TAG:

As always, no pressure to do this tag! Just thought it could be fun 🙂

Thank you so much for reading and until next time!

  1. Haha, this was a fun post. Really like the original idea to use emojicons to tag books. Really fun. There are a couple of novels here that I have in my collection, but have not yet had a chance to read. (Most notably Divergent and the Mazerunner). That said, i also see a couple of books that I have not known about. It is always a cool thing to add new ones, so thanks for that 😊 Currently I have somewhat less time for reading (I spent way too much time watching Anime lol), but it is also nice to have things to look forward to. Great post!

    1. Thank you, Michel! ^^ Yeah, it was really fun!
Great! Love to know you’re getting book ideas from me hahaha That said, I wouldn’t be in a hurry to read Divergent or The Maze Runner. What other books are you looking forward to, if you don’t mind me asking?
Yeah there aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything, so I have to choose between reading books, manga, watching anime, movies, tv shows… Ugh. I want to do it all! XD
But it’s good to vary a bit and I’d love to hear your thoughts on some of these sometime ^^
Thank you for your lovely words, as always 🙂

    1. OMG YES YES YES!!! I’ve finished it the other day and I’m absolutely ecstatic to share my thoughts with you ❤ I don't want to give too much away (erm, I'm pretty sure I already did XD ) but I'm planning to get the review up tomorrow, hopefully. So we can fangirl a bit together. Maybe 😉
I actually love emoji so they were easy to choose. The harder part was to see which books fit which emoji hahaha
Thank you so much, Mandy! ^^ You absolutely rock ❤ ❤

  2. Another great tag with great answers! I still have yet to read many books you mentioned in this list! The Divergent is that bad huh? And I’m looking forward to reading that Throne of Glass series!

    1. Thank you, Jasmine! 🙂
Yeah it was for me, but I know many people you enjoyed it so you might be one of them 🙂
I’ll want to know your opinion about it later! It’s definitely a love-hate series for me hahaha But the second book was lovely ❤

  3. Lol! This is a great tag! I loved reading your answers as usual. Daughter of the Pirate King sounds really interesting, same thing with Yotsuba&! (which I’ve seen scenes of here and there) and the ones you mentioned by Leigh Bardugo.
I’ll be sure to add them to my list. Shamefully I still have yet to read any of Sarah J. Maas’s books, been holding off on them for multiple reasons, but I know I’ll probably love them once I start…at least I hope.
Hehehe, I’m right with you on Usui ❤. His ways would do that to just about anyone lol.

And thank you so much for the tag! This looks like a lot of fun so I’ll be sure to do it once I’ve caught up with the others 😀

    1. Thanks! ^^ It is! I’ll post the review for it today if you want to give it a look.
Yotsuba&! is super cute and funny and the Grisha short stories are really amazing! You don’t even have to read the Grisha trilogy to understand them or enjoy them.
I hope you like Throne of Glass 🙂 It honestly went downhill for me after book three but many people still love it so maybe that’ll be your case.
Usui is absolutely swoon worthy! I swear if I ever found a boy like him in real life my knees would literally give in XD
No problem! I hope you have fun with it 😀

      1. I just read the review! Thanks for posting it. Despite its flaws I’m even more excited to get my hands on it. The story, and especially Alosa,
and the way you described the romance make it sound like an amazing must read 😀.
They’re Grisha short stories!? I’m shocked I somehow never came across them since I read and enjoyed the series. I’ll be sure to check them out.
Ah, yes I’m a bit afraid that may happen since I’ve heard something simular before about it, but of course will still try it out anyway ☺.
OMG Yes!!! That is exactly what would happen to me too! Perfect book bf material haha 😁
        Thanks! 😊

        1. Thank you for reading! ❤️ Oh it’s so awesome, I really love it! And yes, there are flaws but they didn’t affect my enjoyment in the least, especially when I was too immersed in the story to notice.
And I know, right? I found out by chance on Goodreads, when I went to see how many books there were in the series. They’re so amazing! I’m sure you’ll love them 😊
Indeed he is! Hahahah and Throne of Glass also happens to have a few of them, though one in particular has captured my heart from the beginning 😍

  4. I love how you included both mangas and comics in this!!! I always love seeing them both get included in “book tags”!! 😀 *props* on that!

  5. Misaki is definitely always blushing whenever she is with Usui, so I think it fits perfectly! 😀 The short stories by Leigh Bardugo were seriously amazing, I didn’t expect the twists that happened. I also agree with not connecting with Divergent, I just didn’t care about that book. Thank you for tagging me! ❤ 🙂

  6. Love it! I’m so glad you got to do this one. I love seeing all of your choices! Honestly, I loved Divergent when I read it, but thinking back on it, I simply don’t feel that way anymore. I always used to hate Allegiant, but now I think that that was a brave move for the author to make, and it’s really the thing that set the series apart.

    1. Me too! And thank you so much, Amy 😊
Yeah that can happen. As time goes by and we have the chance to think back on what we’ve read, things don’t feel as awesome unfortunately…
I haven’t read past the first book but I know what happens and I agree. Despite everyone’s complaining about it, you have to admit she had guts!
