Loot Crate ~ Dream Crate

dreamcrate1

Hi everyone! 😊 How are you all doing? Well, I hope!

So you might have noticed today’s post is a bit different from my usual posts. That’s because I recently learned about a project by Loot Crate where you can design the crate of your dreams!

I’m a big fan of everything pop culture, so I was very excited to be doing something related to that on my blog. I hope this is something you’ll enjoy reading as well!

So what is Loot Crate?

Loot Crate is a monthly subscription service to curb all of your geek needs. Each month you get a unique box containing an assortment of exclusive items pertaining to any number of fandoms and styles.

Each month features a different theme and collectives, which range from wearables, vinyl figures, homeware, comic books, etc. If you want something more specific, Loot Crate has several other types of subscriptions available too: Loot Anime, Loot Gaming, Loot Pets, Loot Wear, Wizarding World, Marvel, Firefly, etc.

My Dream Crate

Mystery boxes are pretty awesome but wouldn’t it be fun to put together your very own crate, too? We all have our wish lists, after all. So that’s what I’ll be doing today.

My dream crate would obviously need to cater to my fangirl side, but also represent who I am and what speaks to me the most. So I chose the theme:

Companions

1. Direwolf / Dragon Egg Bookends

bookends

Direwolves were the Stark siblings’ companions since they were young – they are intelligent, loyal and vicious when someone threatens their human. Daenerys’s babies were one of the coolest additions to the Game of Thrones world and their eggs have one of the most iconic looks in the history of fantasy.

You knew I had to have some bookish items in this crate, and these bookends nail it. They are absolutely beautiful, yet so useful too! Let’s be honest, though, I would probably need a lot more than five…

2. Marauder’s Map Tablet Case

il_570xn-888772837_5jhr

Ever since The Order of The Phoenix I’ve been completely obsessed with the Marauders. I was a big fan of Sirius before, so watching him interact with the gang and realizing just how strong their friendship was really tugged at my heartstrings. Look, I’m a sucker for bromances, ok?

This case opens just like the original Marauders’ Map, which is just too magical for words! I could totally pretend it was the real deal.

3. Luna Bag / Backpack

luna

Aaaah my childhood. I loved Sailor Moon growing up, no matter how cheesy it got. Two of my favorite characters were, of course, Luna and Artemis – always there to help save the day and be their hilarious selves. So, obviously, they had to make the list.

Ever since I saw these Sailor Moon themed bags, I instantly wanted one! Besides being super cute, they’re perfect for cat lovers as well. So, a 2-in-1 gift! What more could a girl want?

4. Pikachu Costume Plushie

P2469_701-00209_01.jpg

Where would Ash be without his loyal Pokémon friends? Nowhere, that’s where. Or dead. Or both.

Seriously, guys, is there anything cuter than this Pikachu cosplaying Mega Charizard Y? I don’t think so. There are dozens of other costume options too, but I really like this one as it incorporates two of my favorite Pokémon!

5. Studio Ghibli Poster

flat800x800070f2

Studio Ghibli, the father of all companion stories. How could I not have it in my crate? And since there’s no way I can choose just one Studio Ghibli movie, why not go with all of them?

This poster is just one example of many awesome ones out there but I love it to bits and would definitely want it showcased on my bedroom wall!

6. Ed’s Pocket Watch

fmapocketwatch02a

Fullmetal Alchemist has a special place in my heart. Ed and Al went through so much together and this watch (and its inscription) is a reminder of both their strength and their bond.

All their travels were filled with loss, learning but most of all, friendship, and that’s why they also make the list. I really love pocket watches – they’re elegant and gorgeous. Even though I know I won’t actually use it, how could I not want this one?

7. Amy Pond T-Shirt

tshirts

A Companions themed box would be nothing without a Doctor Who item in it, right?

Amy Pond has been my favorite since pretty much forever and I just love these two t-shirt designs. Both have really nice styles and include the iconic “The Girl Who Waited” in them, which is just the cherry on top for me. The second one features the Angels as well, so I couldn’t ask for more!

And that’s about it, guys! I hope you liked this post. I had tons of fun with it so let me know if I should do more of these 🙂 A normal crate probably wouldn’t have these many items but this is a dream crate, so I went all the way XD

Thank you so much for reading and until next time!

    1. Thank you! I tried my best to keep the list short but I guess I went overboard XD (and I still didn’t include all the items I would love to get!)
I might subscribe to Loot Crate in the future 🙂 It does seem like an amazing opportunity to get tons of awesome stuff that you wouldn’t normally find anywhere else.
      Thanks for reading! ^^

And I know, right? That bag is total Sailor Moon/cat goals, so you either need to love one or the other (or both!) I know I fell in love as soon as I set my eyes on it. My cuteness meter just completely exploded XD
I used to watch the anime all the time, but it was such a long time ago I feel like I should re-watch it already…
Thank you so much! ❤ ❤

  2. Oh my drizzles. This dream crate deserves an award. Where is Steve Harvey or James Corden?! I was sure I recently saw them… on a poster… The tablet case, the luna bag, pikachu costume plushie, and the direwolf / dragon egg bookends hugged my heart and told me to run to the hills for them! Fantastic post and dream crate!

I’m so happy most people would like to own these as well! I mean, they’re too adorable *not* to but, you know, everyone has different tastes.
My birthday’s next month so I might treat myself to some of these… If not all. We’ll see how my wallet handles it XD
Thank you so much, Olga! ❤ ❤ ❤

      1. I’ve been stacking up less chocolate bars and more dough to buy from fairyloot or owlcrate.😅🙈 I wish they could use this as an inspiration!! Omigosh happy early birthday! A girl always has to treat herself to nice things. Get coupons, sell your house, sell a family member, or give away your wallet for $50 and say it’s autographed by a famous singer if you have to because having that is definitely gonna be worth it. Anytime, Sophie!!☺️😎❤️❤️❤️❤️

Treat Yo’ Self is my mantra… Unless, you know, my wallet says “NO” and I have to be like “well okay… but what about…” “NO” “okay…”
I like your suggestions, though! I’ll have to think well and hard on them… Who needs a house anyway? MERCH!

          1. AW COME ON. If it says “NO” you respond “who do you think brought you to life, buddy?” Exactly! Book merch is too cheesy great to pass up!!

  3. I love your picks so much! That Marauder iPad case is on my literal wishlist at the moment and that Luna backpack is super cute. I watched and read tons of Sailor Moon when I was a kid and would totally, totally get that for myself. 😛

    1. I do!!! Studio Ghibli is absolute love! ❤ I'm so glad we have that in common ^^
It's so hard for me to choose… They're honestly all so fantastic in their own way! Mononoke Hime was the first one I watched, though, so that one has a forever place in my heart. I really loved Nausicäa as well (both are very similar, I guess), but also Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Castle in the Sky… Ugh, all of them? They're quite different from each other but all have this magic to them that is so characteristic of Miyazaki's movies.
One I didn't feel that strongly about was My Neighbour Totoro. Everyone is so in love with it but I honestly don't think it was Miyazaki's best. Although it was still pretty cute, it didn't quite do it for me.
God, I'm so sorry for not seeing this comment before but apparently the notification got lost in my never-ending feed 😦 I'm really sorry, Kate!

      1. Princess Mononoke was very beautiful, but I feel like Miyazaki let his own bias into the story a little; both Moro and Eboshi had their faults and virtues, yet he clearly favored the wolves. I dunno how to feel about that. Kiki was my first Ghibli movie; I must’ve seen it when I was four. Porco Rosso, I didn’t like as a kid because of how slow it was, but I like it much more now; it’s strange, but much more light hearted than most Ghibli movies. And Castle in the Sky is one of my all time favorites!
My Neighbor Totoro was my favorite movie when I was around six, so I’m always going to have a soft spot for it. On rewatch, it may not be as good as some of the others, but it always makes me kinda nostalgic, and not in a bad way.
It’s no problem, Sophie! I sometimes forget to answer comments too; I always think I do, but I sometimes forget. So, no problem!

        1. Yeah, I have to agree with you. He seems to have a very utopic ideal for the world and his approach can be a bit too radical at times.
So it feels like you don’t really have the power to choose sides, since he makes that choice for you. Your opinion may feel pretty irrelevant.
Though I wasn’t particularly fazed by that in Mononoke, for instance, I know of people who were.
I watched the movie when I was much too young, I think XD It felt a bit too brutal at the time, but it had such an impact in me because of that.
I watched Porco Rosso a couple years ago, which I think was ideal. It’s definitely much more mature than his other works. But it’s also one of the funniest ones, in my opinion. Very clever, too. A kid wouldn’t be able to pick up on some of its very subtle nuances.
I watched Totoro a bit earlier, but I think it was still a tad too late. Maybe if I’d watched it as a child I would be of the same opinion as you. It’s definitely more out of nostalgia than anything that people love it so much.
But, all in all, I have nothing bad to say about Miyazaki’s movies. They’re all so unique and lovely in their own way, yet so easily identifiable. Which I think is every artist’s goal.
I always answer everyone’s comments/pingbacks, so when I don’t it’s because I didn’t see it or it got lost in my notifications.
I usually try to check older posts and see if I’ve missed something but it’s hard to keep up sometimes.
Thanks for understanding, and I’m glad I’m not alone! 😛

          1. Yeah. As much as I love Ghibli, I feel like a little subtly is good. Probably why I liked Castle in the Sky so much(it had environmental themes, but they weren’t overpowering). Oh, I saw Mononoke when I was fifteen, I think! I feel like I’d seen it earlier, I’d have liked it more. But after seeing so many environmental Ghibli movies, I think I was just a little tired of that topic at that point. And I like to think of myself as an environmentalist.
Yeah, Porco Rosso is definitely a more mature Ghibli movie, which is ironic because it’s one of the lightest. It’s probably why I liked it so much; it wasn’t as humorous as The Cat Returns, as it had its serious moments, but for the most part, it had a funnier vibe than most.
And I can understand your view on Totoro; I think it’s a movie to be seen when you’re younger. It has more magic (and is more relatable) then. And true! My complaints are all fairly mild. They are all unique. Even Nausicaa and Mononoke, while compared for their similar themes, are totally different.
I also always try to answer to comments, but sometimes I forget. I try not to though.

            1. Castle in the Sky was so beautiful! ❤
And yeah, that "pushy" environmental vibe can be a bit too much at times, but it hasn't truly bothered me to be honest. I guess it's a nice change from all the other media promoting the opposite.
I was about eight when I watched Mononoke, maybe. It was a bit too gory, to say the least XD But very powerful.
Porco Rosso doesn't get enough love from people, and it's a shame because it's truly charming!

              Liked by 1 person

              1. Castle is the Sky is probably my favorite, as I feel it has all the trademarks of a good Ghibli movie, and probably my favorite animation. Laputa was so beautiful!
And you’re right, it is a nice change of pace from the opposite. And it is hard to find the right balance. But after five environmentally themed movies, I guess I was thinking, ‘Maybe take a short rest from it a little? Maybe do something more subtle, like Castle in the Sky.’
Dang, that’s young to see Mononoke, lol. But it probably was at its most powerful then! I think a lot of my influences can be Ghibli and Disney, just by the huge amount I saw as a kid (and in that weird 8-12 stage, I watched more Ghibli…wonder what it means, lol)
Porco Rosso is one of the more underrated Ghibli movies. And yet it’s so creative, comedic, and has great leads, including two strong female characters who couldn’t be more different. I quite liked that Gina was feminine, and Fio was a tomboy, and both were portrayed as equal characters. That was cool!

                1. Yeah, maybe because I didn’t watch them all at once and they were all pretty spaced so it didn’t make me as fed up as it could. Also, I very much admire Miyazaki’s passion and his ability to maintain his ideals despite everyone’s criticism. Others would have changed in order to appeal to others, but he didn’t. He stayed true to himself.
I love Disney and I did watch it more when I was little. I only got to see a few of Ghibli’s movies at that age, the rest came later in my teenage years or so. But I envy you! I would have loved to have watched Totoro as a child, for instance hahaha
And I absolutely agree! But then again, I have yet to find a Ghibli female protagonist (or otherwise) that I don’t like 😉
