The Candy Book Tag

banner

I was tagged by Ava @ Reads, Rhythms & Ruminations and Eileen @ Bookish Frenzy to do this and I couldn’t be more thrilled because, as you might have noticed, I do have a bit of a fondness for candy! And chocolate. And all things involved, really. So yeah, this is an absolute winner for me XD

Thank you so much, girls! ❤ Please check out their blogs if you haven’t yet, they both have super awesome posts about anime, books and tons of other great stuff that I’m sure you’ll enjoy!

***Please don’t use any of the graphics in this post without permission.***

Ah. Healthy food. It is deep, meaningful, and probably won a lot of awards but, um, it really isn’t your thing.

The Boy in The Striped Pajamas, 1984, Animal Farm, etc. Look, I get it. They’re classics and they all carry powerful messages that definitely need to get out there. But they were the most depressing **** I have ever read. So they are not for me.

WHY DO THESE EXIST?

I don’t have a specific one in mind. Usually any book that romanticizes racism, self-harm, abusive relationships, etc., is a no for me. Unless it was written centuries ago, authors have no excuse. There are some exceptions, of course.

chocolate-kisses2

Aww…this novel had the best romance.

Where to start?? I think I need to go with manga for this one: Dengeki Daisy, Full Metal Panic!, Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama, Akagami no Shirayukihime, and pretty much anything by Tanaka Meca/Motomi Kyousuke. My list is endless, though… I would probably need a whole post for this.

Eek! You made sure to check under your bed every night for a week after reading this scary one.

The closest I can think of is Poe‘s short stories, which I read during Halloween week. They weren’t exceptionally nerve-wrecking but they were definitely creepy as hell.

This took you forever to get through, but hey! You did it!

Man, this is a tough one. I’m going to have to say Martina Cole’s Goodnight Lady since it took me months to get through. I kept putting it down and picking it up… Also, it was a bit traumatizing? ^^’

Admit it, you loved this when you were younger (you probably still do). Think: children’s or MG fiction.

I guess I’ll have to go with Ava’s answer for this one. Malory Towers was such a big part of my childhood! Also, The Princess Diaries and, of course, Harry Potter.

I TAG:

In both Ava’s and Eileen’s posts there was a category named Milk Chocolate (This is a book you’d recommend to absolutely EVERYONE) but I didn’t find it in the creator’s tag so I left it out. It’s fine if you want to use it, though (it comes after Apples).

So that’s it, everyone! I hope you enjoy this tag if you decide to do it 🙂 For a cleaner template, I suggest you head over to the tag creator’s own post – Bookish Serendipity.

Thank you so much for reading and until next time!

    1. Hahaha yeah I guess I assumed from the title that it was supposed to be aimed at a younger audience? I figured out it wasn’t halfway through but I enjoyed it so much I didn’t quite mind.
I always managed to read books that were way too mature for my age by accident XD Sometimes it worked out fine, sometimes not so much…

      1. I would say that Princess Diaries is a clean book — fairly appropriate for middle grade. But, like you, I was introduced to very adult books at a young age — I was given free reign at the library, so I found all sorts of things. I think it worked out for the most part. :p

  1. Thank you so much for this tag (and the award, I think I forgot to comment on that post but I’ll have a post up soon so you’ll get a pingback^^)! I almost feel like changing black jelly beans to Salmiakki or Sisu (two awful Finnish ideas of candy).

I have Tales of Mystery and Imagination on my shelf but I haven’t read it. Maybe I need to pick it up for next Halloween?

Also, I love your graphics! Could I use them? Of course I’ll give you all the credit! 🙂

    1. Oh no problem! I always have so much going on too that it’s hard to keep up with all the comments/likes/pingbacks. Hahaha you could definitely make the swap, I think, or mention it in your description and no one would mind! I actually kind of like black jellybeans, though? But I’m in the minority 😛
You should totally read it! I think Halloween works best but would you really want to wait that long to get into it? I don’t think so!
Thank you so much! ^^ I was quite happy with them. I don’t usually share my graphics and since this tag was not created by me, I think it’d be a bit weird to use them if that makes sense? At least in my opinion. But if one of these days I decide to come up with an original tag, I’ll be sure to make some really nice ones to share ^^

    1. Sure thing! I hope you have fun with it ^^
I only watched Snow White’s anime so far and I’m so in love! I watched a couple episodes of Kaichou wa Maid-Sama too but was mostly into the manga. I highly recommend both!

  2. Sophie, my head is so tired that I literally just stared at your black jellybeans picture and went, wait, why DO they exist? Why do we exist? It was getting bad. Anyway, thank you for including that lovely picture for my tired brain to fixate on. ANYWAY. Fantastic post. And I super agree about Poe. It’s not like, super scary, but dude had some scary stuff going on in his head. I just reread the Cask story and oh dear. XD Okay, I’m going to leave this post before I say anything else – oh wait. Thanks so much for the tag!! I actually already did this one sadly, but thank you for thinking of me. ❤ Now I'm going to leave because your background is starting to make me ask questions too. Thanks again and great choices as always! ❤

    1. Hon, are you okay? WHAT HAVE THOSE JELLYBEANS DONE TO YOU?? I shall beat them to a pulp if they ever start getting existential on you again, I swear!
Poe is messed up… That’s probably how I would describe his books to anyone. I think his writing is phenomenal and really subtle, though, which is great for me XD
Oh I guess I either missed it or didn’t remember? Sorry about that! See, I’m even worse than you are… Or rather, my memory is. (Now, did I turn off the gas? Did I lock the door? What is life?)
Thanks so much for reading ❤

  3. This is too cute! I agree with both you and Mandy on Poe. Super creepy, but also super awesome. 😉 Thanks for tagging me! I’m going to try to get to this one this weekend, cause it’s so much fun!

    1. Yes, he is! I’m so glad I decided to read more stories of his and re-read a couple I didn’t remember too well. Totally worth it! ^^
No problem, I thought you might enjoy this one! It really is so cute and fun ❤ Looking forward to reading your answers 😉

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed it, Eileen! And yeah, me too *_* I’m such a sucker for shoujo manga hahaha
It’s the same with young adult books, I know I should probably be getting into more mature readings by now but how can I resist? 😛

  4. Oh my gosh! I so agree with Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama being in the chocolate kisses. I so love that anime/manga too! I thought I’m not gonna fall for Usui’s charm but I did! Ah! I think he’s the most gorgeous anime character ever!! Great post, Sophie! 😀

    1. Usui definitely won me over too easily hahaha 😛 He’s impossibly charming, I agree!
Since you like Kaichou wa Maid-Sama too maybe you should try the others. Especially Akagami no Shirayukihime, as they have similar male leads 😉
      Thank you so much! ❤

  5. I adore Dengeki Daisy, Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama and Akagami no Shirayukihime!! All three are amazing and the romances within are amazing! ❤ I haven't read the manga for Akagami no Shirayukihime yet, I have only seen the anime. I definitely need to read it some time soon! 🙂

    1. Oh it’s always hard for me to choose between anime and manga too… Though in my opinion, the ones on my list are both fantastic either way! I really can’t get over how cute they all are ❤
      Thank you for reading 🙂

  6. Thank you so much for tagging me ❤ I haven't read a lot of the books you mentioned, but still, I'm excited to answer to this one (I love anything sweet too haha)
Do you mind if I use your graphics? They look great 🙂

  7. Thanks so much for the fun tag! It looks awesome, and I love all of the topics. I definitely have some books to fit these! Would it be okay with you if I used your mini headers? They’re fabulous, and of course I would give credit!

    1. No problem! And that’s awesome, sometimes the hardest part is to come up with the answers hahaha
Some people have been asking me about the graphics but I think it’s a bit unfair to the tag’s creator since this is not my tag. I’m really glad you like them, though 🙂 I promise once I come up with a tag of my own I’ll make some nice ones to share ^^
      Thanks for commenting! ❤
