Check out their blogs if you haven’t already! They’re filled with amazing bookish content and more 🙂 Azia even writes her own stories and Jasmine always shares some really great advice and tips! So follow them – you won’t regret it.

The Rules

  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started
  • Give two pieces of advice for new bloggers
  • Select up to 15 other blogs you want to give the award to

How It All Started

I remember reading a lot when I was younger. It was one of those hobbies I not only loved but that allowed me to escape from whatever was going on in my life at the time. It still does. It has the power to soothe and comfort me in a way nothing else can. And I think most people who read (fiction) do so based on those principles. There’s something magical about exploring a myriad of different worlds and befriending all those unique characters. And even when you can’t physically leave, your imagination takes you anywhere you wish to go.

My love for writing came soon after. I used to draw a lot, and it just felt natural to create back stories for what was on the pictures. I also didn’t always like the way a book ended or how certain scenes played out. I wanted to change them, give them a different twist. So I started writing my own stories and eventually tried my hand at fanfiction. It really is an infinite world of possibilities.

I had tried to start blogs before, but I always ended up abandoning them after a while. I just didn’t have the drive or a specific idea of where I wanted to take them. I usually didn’t have the time, either. But one day I finally decided I would give it another try and this time, really make it work. I started browsing through a lot of great posts by great people and was instantly inspired. I felt almost… at home with all these strangers. And that was a wonderful feeling. Since then, I’ve never looked back!

My Advice to New Bloggers

I don’t think I’m the best person to give advice as I’m just getting started too, but here goes what I think it’s most important:

  • Write honestly. Even if you think your true opinions will not be well received, writing just for the sake of agreeing with everyone else or to please others will only get you so far. Will you ever feel truly accomplished or happy not writing what’s really on your mind? I think not. So be genuine; that way, your audience will be too and your connection to it a lot more fulfilling.
  • Be respectful, humble and open-minded. I know the internet can be a very hostile place. You can and will encounter a lot of ugly people in it. But what matters is that you maintain your position while still discussing your ideas. You won’t always agree with everyone, but you can expose your point of view without insulting, humiliating or otherwise denigrating them. Sticking to your beliefs is great, but sticking to your ego is not. Never accepting someone else’s input or rejecting their ideas solely because you can’t be bothered to change your mind or because you don’t think they’re good enough for you to even consider them will only be harmful for both parties. Plus, if you keep yourself in a tiny little bubble, you will never learn anything new and everyone else will just stop wanting to get inside.

    1. Thank you so much! And yours is just as well deserved, so don’t worry about it 😊

I’m glad to have given you something nice to start off your Monday, since it’s probably the hardest day of the week for some people hahaha

And I’ll be waiting for your post! Just take as much time as you need 🙂

  2. First, let me say I LOVE that feature image. It’s gorgeous. Second, I love the way you describe reading and how it transports you to different worlds and inspires your imagination. I feel the exact same way! It took me a while to get into writing, too. I never really finished a story until I hit college, so I completely understand your experience 😀 And you give great advice. I’ll take it to heart myself 😉 Lovely post! ❤

    1. Thank you so much! It’s probably the girliest cover I’ve made for the blog hahaha. But I quite like it 🙂

It’s so great that you can relate! To me, it’s just something that it’s hard to describe but I tried, nonetheless.

I think I started writing stories when I was around 12, and really long ones at that. They weren’t anything special and were quite cheesy, but I was just so proud of them hahaha
I definitely started more seriously a few years after, though.

Thank you again for your kind words, they made my day! ❤

      1. Lol. Girly, but eye-catching. I highly approve ❤

And it's cool that you started writing around that time! At least it sounds like you actually finished a couple of them. I'd be proud, too! I started writing around that time, as well, but I never really finished anything until much later haha.

Of course! And I'm so glad 🙂 ❤

        1. Oh I did, but I’ve lost some of them in the meantime… I still go back to reading the ones I do have once in a while, they make me smile and even laugh a little hahaha

It’s cool to see one’s progress 🙂 Do you do that too sometimes? Or are they too cringeworthy? 😂 (I know some of mine are!)

  3. Congratulations and thanks for the tag! I’m pleasantly surprised, to be honest.

Your story regarding how you started writing and then blogging made me smile. Making backstories for the pictures you drew just makes a lot of sense. Do you still draw now?

Those two pieces of advice are really solid, too. Bloggers new and old better pay attention!

Thanks once again for nominating me. I’ll try to answer this nomination later this week! Cheers!

    1. Thank you so much ^^ And no problem, your blog was a solid choice!

I’m glad you liked my story 🙂 I was afraid it would be super long and boring. And I definitely don’t feel incredibly wise to be giving people advice just yet hahaha. But it’s great that it made sense to you and (hopefully) to other people too!

I haven’t drawn much for the last couple of years but I guess I could go back to it if given the proper inspiration/incentive. I’m a phase kind of person, I guess.

I’ll be waiting to read that post of yours! But take your time, there’s no need to rush 🙂

      1. You’re very welcome. I’m flattered you thought of my blog!
No, it was interesting and fun to read! I’m positive other people who enjoy reading it, too. Well, despite not feeling wise you managed to leave behind solid advice! Sophie the sagee maybe? Haha
        Oh, I totally understand. Passions come and go in turns. Just not enough time for everything, sadly ;_;
Thanks. I think I can do it later this week!

  4. Excellent advices! Love your story. I’m glad you decided to come back. Time, it’s definitely short for everyone. But I have since learned to look at the to do list in a different way. Instead of looking at the remaining unchecked things to do, I started looking at the things I have checked off. That way, I feel more accomplished. I especially love this part about reading, “your imagination takes you anywhere you wish to go.” So glad you make this post. I like the background and the image you have, makes purple so pretty 🙂

    1. Thank you! 🙂 That is actually an excellent strategy, and one that will definitely give you an extra boost when you’re feeling a bit disheartened. I can attest to it 100% ^^

It makes me very happy to know you liked my story 🙂 It’s always hard for me to talk about myself in such a personal manner…

About the cover pic, purple is my favorite color so I couldn’t help myself hahaha

Thank you so much once again ❤

      1. You’re welcome 😊 The good thing about blog post is, you can talk about yourself without being stared at face to face. And you can proofread & edit. I like that more than speaking about myself in front of people 😂

  5. Oh my Gosh! Thank you so much for tagging me! ❤️ I literally dropped my phone when I saw this! 😅 And congratulations on the nomination! ❤️

And great advice! I’m still trying to get used to blogging since it’s only been a while since I started, so thanks for the advice! ❤️

    1. Oh I didn’t want to startle you! Hahaha (Thank God you didn’t break it 😂) And you’re very welcome 🙂

I’m glad I could help. I’ve been around for a while now but it all still feels new to me… I learn something different everyday! I’m sure it happens to you too 🙂

So best of luck! And thank you ^_^

    1. No problem Ava! Thanks so much for the shout out ^^

I loved your advice and how you encourage people to just be themselves. It’s so important! Also, interacting will definitely make you feel fulfilled and just happy to be sharing your work with others. I’ve experienced this countless times!

      Great post 🙂
